The Board

Tucked out of sight in Sam Wilson's home in Cadens, this wooden board has a variety of notes, diagrams, and other scribblings pinned to it. Some are in ink, others in charcoal or (later) pencil. The handwriting appears to belong to two people: a more modern-looking hand (Sam's) and the other an older type of script (Geralt's). Sam has written the majority of what's pinned up; his notes are more comprehensive, though the subject matters are largely confusing. Items written in Geralt's hand are near impossible to decipher on their own. The lettering is perfectly clear. It's just not meant for anyone other than those already in the know. If you thought he could not possibly be more brief than he already is in conversation, he's somehow worse in writing. Good luck making out half the shit he's got up there.

Broadly, the notes added to the board appear to be related to the Singularity, monoliths, the multiverse, the summonings, and other nebulous concepts. Sam's kept it from prying eyes less out of secrecy and more because it's just a damn mess that's impossible to explain at this point.

Trusted CR belonging to either Geralt or Sam—especially those who live with or visit Sam's home frequently—are all free to have stumbled over and know of the board's existence, and to make their own contributions. Just tack on a comment of your own on this post at any time! Feel free to shitpost here and there, but this is technically work and the board only has so much room—anything irrelevant, Geralt is likely to toss, and if you stick too much random shit on he's going to tell you to stop fucking about, if Sam doesn't first. But it'll be seen while it's there.

[ A series of initials fill this page, alongside a number. This is, in fact, tracking the disappearing Summoned in Abraxas, post-escape, that they are aware of using 01, 15, or 30 to indicate whether it likely occurred early, mid, or end of a certain month. (These aren't meant to be dates so much as a shorthand for an estimated point in time; as such, no acknowledgment that some months have 31 or 28 days exists. They're all denoted with 30.) A few of the initials do not line up—an unexplained system has been used for those who have unknown last names. Sam knows what it means, Geralt knows, so the consistency is unimportant. Returns and subsequent disappearances are also noted. The last few entries switch between black or blue ink or pencil, suggesting this list is being updated. It is all in Geralt's writing, though. ]

[ A piece of parchment tacked next to this list contains a seemingly random assortment of letters. These are folk who are unaccounted for, but are either 1) not yet confirmed present or missing; or 2) he and Sam both had too little contact with to even approximate when they would've vanished. They are all from Cadens. Thorne or Solvunn are impossible to track unless he or Sam are told or they have close ties. ]

[ Drawn during his attempt to explain the monoliths from his world and how he believes they connect to the Singularity, with less and less magic found in spheres further away from the original source. He has a budding suspicion that, if what they were told at the Singularity crater months ago is true, the Singularity may have been waning for longer than anyone realizes—perhaps indicated by the monsters and magic that must've once existed on certain worlds eons ago and have since faded, with so little of it remaining that most only know of these concepts through myth and story. Absolutely no text or anything remotely helpful accompanies this diagram—at least, not from Geralt. Sam may have sought to add clarity for his own sake. ]

[ and thank god there are a few other notes and additional papers attached to the drawing, considering there is. very little by way of explanation here. but sam's notes don't help all that much - or at least, don't necessarily appear to. where geralt's have few words attached and a shorthand that no one is really certain of, sam's scribbles feel very much like a code that partially makes sense and partially doesn't at all.

[ No further context for this, which is written alongside Sam's notes. A unique mineral from the monoliths of his world, and particularly durable, Geralt has come to realize it does not exist in Sam's sphere or even any others. Uncertain if the Singularity is made of its own unique mineral. Might be a possibility. ]

[ Some kind of chicken, it would appear. Technically, this creature. Drawn in haste and buried underneath some other notes, it's not meant to be kept, only an in-the-moment visual aid for Sam when Geralt was describing the beast he unexpectedly found in the desert with Dean. Squinting, one can make out an image beneath the bird attempting to indicate where the creature was discovered. This image cannot in good conscience be called a map. ]

[ A representation of the Sundering as he understands it from his conversations with Himeka and Estinien, and of the Conjunction of the Spheres. What relation, if any, is unclear; it would seem that where multiple spheres can collide, it is equally possible for a single one to splinter off, and that at some point he found the topic relevant to discuss with Sam. Geralt may or not have a vague theory that a large enough flux in the Singularity can cause a cataclysm that ripples through other spheres. Emphasis on vague.

The 14 inked in the corner is how many shards Estinien told him exists after the Sundering. Beyond that, the only thing which can be surmised here is that Geralt possesses a steady hand and thus is quite decent at drawing smooth little circles. ]

[ Months in which something unusual has occurred, which they believe or is known to be potentially related to the Singularity: the sudden appearance of the communication system, his surge of memories from home (his canon-update), the eclipse, and the memory transference. Sam may have added more context, but Geralt's contribution is solely these numbers. There is no discernible pattern he can make of at this stage.

Out of context, it's merely a rough sketch of a fucking plane. Surprisingly accurate for someone who's never seen an airplane in his life. ]
