I've come across a few.
Never spoke at length.

I recall folk in Thorne found them at the underground markets.

So not as isolated as the Fey.

[ Anyway, he's not going to beat around the bush. ]

I can't imagine very many Summoned will refuse to help at all. But I worry about the factions' desire to be involved. What they might gain.

[ Specifically their two factions. ]

[ There's a long pause before he replies, though this is not unusual in conversations with Geralt. ]

I've no wish to see kingdoms profit off the despair of others.

Most will decide true to their desires here.
I don't know the freedom you have in Thorne to do the same.

I only hope these people aren't half as desperate as they sound.

[ It normally would be, but circumstances have shifted. If Yennefer feels Kyle has the influence to sit alongside her, he believes her. And that is, admittedly, something of a surprise. He's always imagined Kyle would have laid lower. ]

And if they are?

[ He'd always meant to, but the answers he wanted and the people he needed to speak to would've been impossible to reach if he stayed in the background. Whispers weren't enough. ]

At the very least? Whoever walks into that negotiation room with faction support will be in a dangerous position. But that's nothing new.

[ Only that there'll be the expectation this time that the negotiators will come out with something of value. He doesn't believe even the most skilled among them could easily bullshit around that when they are seen to hold the upper hand over these people. ]

I'm not referring to distant estimations.
I know you have a stake in what transpires.

[ Especially if Kyle is seeking information through him. But also—their last conversation made that clear, too. ]

Then just ask whatever else you want to ask.

[ He was honest that last time about his motives. In his own mind, he was very clear. ]

[ His efforts to be vaguely diplomatic have lasted approximately 10 seconds. Apologies, Yennefer. The question he poses is genuine, but how it's taken is another story. Geralt's habit of explaining not a damn thing from the outset hasn't changed. ]

What are you willing to do
To keep the wrong information from either territory?

I would sabotage both, if I had the chance. But I doubt they'll put all three factions at the same table. I'd need assurances from whomever is representing the Free Cities that they are willing to do the same.

[ He wants a stalemate, not to undercut Thorne entirely against the Free Cities. That helps none of them.

Truthfully, he'd need more than just assurances. He'd need it to be someone he trusts. ]

I'm not afraid to burn all my ties within Thorne for the right reasons, or risk being marked for death. I've been tasked with similar work in my past. But I'm not in a great rush to do it, either.

[ Here, he is well-positioned to protect the Thorne Summoned. And, it's more painful to think of needing to escape and leave them behind, potentially in danger, than it is to think about his own death. ]

[ None of this is his preference. If he had it his way, they'd have told Marlo to fuck off from the outset. He hates feeling cornered into playing games, and the fact that he's even having this conversation in the first place is beyond what he'd normally care to do. Still, despite his caution, he does want to trust Kyle—perhaps in part because of what they inadvertently shared long ago.

And because it'd make his life a hell of a lot simpler. ]

I can't speak for them.
But if they give you their word,
then it's yours.

[ He doesn't know Claude well enough to predict his thoughts, and Nadine is difficult to read even for as long as they've been friends. He does know they're honest, though. At least where it counts. ]

[ He generally trusts Geralt's assessment of people - hasn't pointed him in a bad direction yet, but he'll feel better when he realizes it's Claude up for it. ]
