And he recognizes he and Lucifer have found a different sort of footing between them, one that is tentatively held by a combination of Dean, Istredd, Yennefer, and the fact that Geralt does not bother with those who leave he and his alone. Which, thus far—since the Mark—Lucifer has. Indeed, Lucifer might've even made an effort to help. For his own reasons, obviously—concerned about the boy and his position in Thorne—but that's nothing new. He seldom meets those who possess true altruism.
